Yesterday I was talking with an old friend (Hi Bobby) and we were talking about how the church often gets it wrong with social justice and ends up being just as oppressive as the oppressors. And (I think) we become judges of what other's should do. The problem with focusing on "big" issues is that often the "little" issues, like loving each other, are ignored and forgotten. I belong to an email group called Conservative Friends. I am not completely with the Friends theologically but I do have a great deal of respect for them. I appreciated this posting by Kevin Roberts

I believe he makes a great point, that ALL churches end up missing mission because they are focused far away instead of right outside their own door.
Hi Pat. Good to see your post. And a good post it is. The age old
dilemma... care for individuals and get bogged down in the pursuit of
"important matters" or do "important matters" at the cost of some
individuals. The best answer seems to be the hardest one... care for every
individual as if they are the important matter.
